How to order from PAHO
Order Online We invite you to browse our bookstore. You can start in our Featured Publications. To view a book, click on the cover or title. When you decide to purchase an item, click "Add to your shopping cart". You can continue to select items for purchase by clicking "Continue shopping" or go to any other page. Items will remain in your shopping cart until you choose to check out. To finish the transaction, click "Check out/Purchase" on the Shopping Cart page. Order by phone, by fax, mail or by e-Mail To order from our distribution center, clients in the United States can dial PAHO's toll free number 1-800 472-3046. Clients outside the United States should call (301) 617-7806. For your convenience, an order form in PDF (Portable Document Format) is available. Adobe Acrobat Reader, a free downloadable program is required to view and print the order form. To order by fax or mail, print the order form, fill it out and send it to us. Please do not forget to include the appropriate shipping costs in your calculations. Click here to download the order form. Free publications Due to budgetary constraints and the increased cost of distribution, PAHO can no longer provide books free of charge. In order to assure the optimal availability of PAHO publications in the countries, a limited number of centers have been chosen in each country to receive PAHO publications so that these publications can be made available to the population at large. We invite to you browse PAHO publications at the center closest to you in your country. Privacy & Security Issues The PAHO Publications Program takes precautions to ensure that your credit card information and your personal information are secured. All credit card information is transferred by Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). Credit card numbers and all other purchase information is encrypted and then sent from the buyer's server to the PAHO Web server. If you can not access the SSL, your information will travel without encryption to the bank for authorization and then be erased. PAHO Publications Program does not store your credit card information on the Organization's servers. No one can get your credit card number from our system because we do not store it on our server. While this method ensures your security, it also requires that you re-enter your credit card number every time you place and order with us. No information submitted to PAHO is shared with or sold to any third party. However, we will occasionally send you announcements about forthcoming PAHO publications we think will interest you. Return Policy and damaged PAHO Publications Program is not responsible for books damaged or lost in foreign mail systems and must charge for the reshipment of lost or undelivered orders. All sales are final. PAHO Publications Program will replace a book if the book delivered was an error on the part of PAHO. The PAHO Publications Program will not issue cash refunds for returned books. Credit will be issued directly to the buyer only if the original book is no longer available. PALTEX PALTEX (The Expanded Textbook and Instructional Materials Program) is a joint technical program of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and the Pan American Health and Education Foundation (PAHEF). A nonprofit organization that works closely with PAHO in various activities. Over a 30-year period, PALTEX has provided nearly 4 million medical and health science books and basic diagnostic instruments to students and health workers at over 600 institutions in 20 Latin American and Caribbean countries. PALTEX provides high-quality instructional materials at favorable prices for students and health workers. PALTEX serves the needs not only of medical students, but also of a wide range of professional health disciplines, including nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, nutrition, and environmental health. In addition, PALTEX publishes and distributes manuals and other materials focused on the needs of health services personnel at all levels of the health system. It also collects, organizes, preserves and disseminates regional information produced by PAHO, both bibliographic and in full text, besides offering a selected collection on related health subjects affecting the people of Latin America and the Caribbean. The Library's collections are referenced in its electronic PAHO/HQ Online Library Catalog, accessible through the Web. The PAHO Institutional Memory The PAHO Institutional Memory Database (IM) is the official registry of the Pan American Health Organization's intellectual production collected at the Organization's Headquarters. It offers users access to the PAHO bibliographical records and digital collection dating from the Organization's inception in 1902. The database currently holds over 38,766 bibliographic references, of which around 23,627 represent selected full text materials. The system provides access to print and online materials, as well as other media formats. The database is maintained by the PAHO Library and is intended to preserve and disseminate current and historical documents of the Organization. The Virtual Health Library The Virtual Health Library promotes an equitable, universal, modern, and efficient access to relevant information generated by dynamics of public health in the Region. The Virtual Campus of Public Health The Campus is a public service of continuing education and information. Its main objective is to contribute to the development and improvement of the efficiency of public health management through the resolution of cases closely related with professional practice, as well as to promote the exchange of experiences among professionals in the sector and among public health institutions of various countries. |
