When you search by other criteria, you will find the following options:

• Searching by title: enter the exact title or a word of the title and press find it. The search engine will try to find the book. If no book is found, try another criteria.
• Searching by topic: enter a word that refers to the topic of the book that you are looking for. If no book is found, try with another method.
• Searching by Order Code: if you know the Order Code, please type it leaving a space between the first two letters and the numbers. For example, Drug Abuse Order Code: SP 522.
• Searching by ISBN: if you know the ISBN number, please write it down (ISBN: 92 75 11536 6) as follow 92 (space)75 (space) 11536 (space) 6.

Free publications

Due to budgetary constraints and the increased cost of distribution, PAHO can no longer provide books free of charge. In order to assure the optimal availability of PAHO publications in the countries, a limited number of centers have been chosen in each country to receive PAHO publications so that these publications can be made available to the population at large.

Privacy & Security Issues

The PAHO Publications Program takes precautions to ensure that your credit card information and your personal information are secured.

All credit card information is transferred by Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). Credit card numbers and all other purchase information is encrypted and then sent from the buyer's server to the PAHO Web server. If you can not access the SSL, your information will travel without encryption to the bank for authorization and then be erased.

PAHO Publications Program does not store your credit card information on the Organization's servers. No one can get your credit card number from our system because we do not store it on our server. While this method ensures your security, it also requires that you re-enter your credit card number every time you place and order with us.

No information submitted to PAHO is shared with or sold to any third party. However, we will occasionally send you announcements about forthcoming PAHO publications we think will interest you.

Return Policy and damaged

PAHO Publications Program is not responsible for books damaged or lost in foreign mail systems and must charge for the reshipment of lost or undelivered orders.

All sales are final. PAHO Publications Program will replace a book if the book delivered was an error on the part of PAHO.

The PAHO Publications Program will not issue cash refunds for returned books. Credit will be issued directly to the buyer only if the original book is no longer available.

How to submit journal article for the Pan American Journal of Public Health

Manuscripts should be prepared using Microsoft Word (or Excel, Power Point, or other graphics software for the illustrations) and submitted through Manuscript Central^TM (ScholarOne, Inc.) at http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/rpsp, which is the online manuscript submission and peer review system employed by the RPSP/PAJPH.

PALTEX

PALTEX (The Expanded Textbook and Instructional Materials Program) is a joint technical program of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and the Pan American Health and Education Foundation (PAHEF). A nonprofit organization that works closely with PAHO in various activities. Over a 30-year period, PALTEX has provided nearly 4 million medical and health science books and basic diagnostic instruments to students and health workers at over 600 institutions in 20 Latin American and Caribbean countries. PALTEX provides high-quality instructional materials at favorable prices for students and health workers.

PALTEX serves the needs not only of medical students, but also of a wide range of professional health disciplines, including nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, nutrition, and environmental health.

In addition, PALTEX publishes and distributes manuals and other materials focused on the needs of health services personnel at all levels of the health system. PALTEX meets the urgent need for updating and improvement of health workers' skills by providing materials especially designed for programs of continuing education.

Who can purchase PALTEX material?
Medical students and health workers from public and private institutions are the primary PALTEX users. PALTEX service centers are available in more than 600 participating institutions throughout Latin America, and in the offices of PAHO in 18 countries. In many countries commercial bookstores also offer a selection of manuals or books that are part of the PALTEX self-published series or are published as the intellectual property of PAHO.

Polio Weekly Bulletin
The weekly Polio Bulletin is prepared using the Polio Eradication Surveillance System(PESS) program. In English and Spanish.

EID Weekly Updates
The purpose of EID Updates is to disseminate information on the latest public-health events that have been identified as risks to health, trade, and/or international travel. Most of these events are primarily due to infectious agents, while others are due to chemical or physical agents.

Weekly Measles Surveillance Bulletin
This weekly report on measles surveillance in the Americas is prepared using the Measles Elimination Surveillance System (MESS) program. Available in English and Spanish.

Epidemiological Bulletin
The bulletin's main purpose is to publish periodically short accounts of and comments on the epidemiological activity of communicable, non-communicable and emerging and re-emerging diseases of priority public health concern as well as information regarding technical aspects involved in disease surveillance, prevention and control programs in the countries.

DISASTERS: Preparedness and Mitigation in the Americas
DISASTERS provides news about disaster preparedness activities in the countries of the Americas, publications reviews, upcoming meetings announcements and articles of current interest. In English and Spanish. Distributed quarterly.

Perspectives in Health
Published twice a year by the Pan American Health Organization, the magazine carries feature articles about different aspects of public health in the Americas.

Acta Bioethica
Since 2000, the publication Cuadernos del Programa Regional de Bioética was replaced by the biannual scholarly publication Acta Bioethica, a journal that constitutes a pluralist source of perspectives and an open forum publishing qualified authors' contributions committed with the bioethical enterprise.

The PAHO Headquarters Library

The PAHO Headquarters Library and Information Services supports the work of the Organization and provides a wide variety of professional and technical reference and information services covering a broad range of subject areas within the biomedical and public health field, including, historical information. It also collects, organizes, preserves and disseminates regional information produced by PAHO, both bibliographic and in full text, besides offering a selected collection on related health subjects affecting the people of Latin America and the Caribbean. The Library's collections are referenced in its electronic PAHO/HQ Online Library Catalog, accessible through the Web.

The PAHO Institutional Memory

The PAHO Institutional Memory Database (IM) is the official registry of the Pan American Health Organization's intellectual production collected at the Organization's Headquarters. It offers users access to the PAHO bibliographical records and digital collection dating from the Organization's inception in 1902. The database currently holds over 38,766 bibliographic references, of which around 23,627 represent selected full text materials. The system provides access to print and online materials, as well as other media formats. The database is maintained by the PAHO Library and is intended to preserve and disseminate current and historical documents of the Organization.

The Virtual Health Library

The Virtual Health Library promotes an equitable, universal, modern, and efficient access to relevant information generated by dynamics of public health in the Region.

The Virtual Campus of Public Health

The Campus is a public service of continuing education and information. Its main objective is to contribute to the development and improvement of the efficiency of public health management through the resolution of cases closely related with professional practice, as well as to promote the exchange of experiences among professionals in the sector and among public health institutions of various countries.
