$12.00 Latin America and the Caribbean / $16.00 Elsewhere

Order code: OP 115

Bilingual Publication
The first part of this publication provides an introduction to health technology assessment (HTA): why it is important; who does the evaluations; when and how the evaluations are done. The World Health Organization programming activities regarding HTA are also discussed. In the second, the authors look at health technology in Latin America and the Caribbean. PAHO's recommendations for promoting health technology assessment are outlined in this section.

This publication will serve as a useful tool for policymakers and health care professionals in this field, especially those interested in PAHO's role in developing health technology assessment in the Region. It is hoped that this publication will help the Organization to promote HTA as a regular part of health services processes and development.
