Pan American Journal of Public Health - Revista Panamericana de Salud Pública

Pan American Journal of Public Health/
Revista Panamericana de Salud Pública

Vol. 25, No. 6, Junio 2009/ June 2009. Revista Panamericana de Salud Pública/Pan American Journal of Public Health

The Revista Panamericana de Salud Pública/Pan American Journal of Public Health (RPSP/PAJPH) is the flagship scientific and technical periodical publication of the Pan American Sanitary Bureau, which is the Secretariat of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO). It is a monthly publication that presents articles in Spanish, English, and Portuguese, all of which go through a peer review process. The RPSP/PAJPH enjoys widespread prestige and recognition, as evidenced by its inclusion in Current Contents/Social and Behavioral Sciences and the Social Sciences Citation Index, as well as many other leading biomedical bibliographic databases, such as Index Medicus/MEDLINE/ PubMed, EMBASE/Excerpta Medica, DIALOG, and Biological Abstracts. It is one of the most cited and consulted public health journals in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The RPSP/PAJPH publishes original research articles and analytical and descriptive materials on epidemiologic trends in the American continent, the programs and strategies adopted to prevent and control disease among different population groups, the public health policies implemented by PAHO's Member States, and the structural, functional, political, and economic characteristics of the Region's health systems and services. Given the variety of subspecialty areas that belong to the field of public health, the journal covers a very large variety of topics, always from a population perspective, as befits a public health journal.

Each monthly issue provides indispensable information for improving the health of all people in the Americas.

Topics that frequently appear in the Journal include:

  • infectious diseases
  • health promotion
  • food and nutrition
  • health economics
  • maternal and infant health
  • new vaccines
  • health systems and services
  • mental health
  • noncommunicable diseases
  • dental health
  • disasters
  • women's health
